Boys Who Sew
A Crafts Council Touring Exhibition
Exhibition project management, object loan and venue liaison
4 February to 4 April 2004
Touring during 2004 and 2005 to Aberystwyth Arts Centre, MAC Birmingham, Ipswich Art Museum and Huddersfield Art Gallery, UK.
'Boys Who Sew' explores the way seven male artists confound the traditions of textile art. Working in a discipline conventionally associated with women, these internationally acclaimed artists break down barriers between fine art and fashion, exploring issues of gender, sexuality, race and identity. For the first time the Crafts Council introduces the use of an exhibition online digital catalogue developed by the Department of Computing at Goldsmiths College, London. Curated by Janis Jefferies, exhibition design by Real Studio, and exhibition graphics by Surface 3.
Exhibition project management provision consisted of the following:
- Timeline development.
- Budget management.
- Exhibition and graphic design management.
- National freight logistics.
- Installation/derig management.
- Object loan negotiation.
- Liaison with exhibition venues.
- Interpretation development.
- Online Catalogue management.
