Design Cities tells the story of how specific cities around the world influenced design. The exhibition begins with London in 1851 and then moves on to Vienna in 1900s, Dessau in 1920s, Paris in 1930s, Los Angeles in 1940s, Milan in 1960s, Tokyo in 1980s, and concludes with London in 2008. Curated by Deyan Sudjic, exhibition design by Ben Kelly Design, exhibition graphics by GTF and catalogue design by Esterson Associates. The exhibition was a partnership initiative between Istanbul Modern and the Design Museum.
Exhibition project management provision consisted of the following:

- Object loan negotiation.
- Liaison with exhibition venues.
- Interpretation development.
- Catalogue management.
